Fall Fun on the Farm

Fall Fun Activities:

Our fall fun events at Stonington Gardens are geared especially for kids and families.

We have farm animals to feed, an old Apple tree to climb, and lots and lots of different pumpkins! While the kids are enjoying their stay mom and dad can enjoy a hot cup of Dave’s Coffee and fresh baked goods.

 Fall activities include:

 Hay rides:

Starting October 1 we give rides with our antique tractor and wagon every Saturday. Go through the fields and into the wood and learn about the behind the scenes operation of a plant nursery.  No sign up necessary, the rides start on the hour beginning at 11:00 AM. Rides cost $5.00 and end at the pumpkin patch where each rider can pick out their own sugar pumpkin to take home.

 Hay bale maze:

We built a cozy hay maze inside a greenhouse for hours of fun regardless of the weather.  Designed for kids (ages 2-8) it is a fun, safe adventure with lots of happy surprises.  The most fun might be diving in the hay stack searching for hidden treasures.  The maze is open every day; self-guided and easily supervised by parents. There is no charge for the maze.

 Scarecrow building:

This has become our most popular activity.  For an $8.00 fee you receive a scarecrow frame, hay for stuffing, and basic clothes and supplies. Our enthusiastic staff will instruct and encourage you in building a one of a kind scarecrow that you will bring home with you.  We take photos of you and your creation, at the end of the day the most creative scarecrow wins a prize… On October 29 A grand prize winner is chosen and awarded a $50.00 gift certificate!

This is a great activity for the entire family. We provide the frames, clothing and all the basic supplies. You are encouraged to bring anything that will make your scarecrow unique. Some past favorites include a ballerina, fireman and even a doggie scarecrow.  Please register for this activity as space is limited. Scarecrow building is every Saturday in October at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM
